Newcomers or curious people, see here for context.
1) The villain turned the android’s face this way and that - two eyes that were currently offline, jaw locked shut, muscle receptors powered down. Screens going crazy, beeping and crisscrossing lines. It made the android an open book to them, almost literally. “I put too much leeway on your programming, too much independence, I am sorry for that,” the villain murmured. “You needn’t have suffered this way, I just -” their grip tightened. “It just makes me so mad when a project doesn’t go right, you know? You were so close to perfect.” The villain sighed, regretfully. “Don’t you worry though, I’ll make you all better.” They ignored the way the screen spiked, violently.
2) “I don’t appreciate,” the villain said to the love interest. “Being forced to damage my own property. Do you have any idea how much money you’ve cost me?”
“They’re not fucking property,” the love interest spat.
“I made them.”
“People make children all the time, that doesn’t mean they own them.”
The villain’s jaw clenched at being argued with. They looked over to the android, holding the love interest as steady as restraints. “How about we put it to the test then? If it’s not property, it should be able to act freely.”
The android’s mind twisted, desperately. Because it wasn’t a test - the villain had already cheated, but the love interest wouldn’t know that.
The villain’s eyes gleamed back at them. “Why don’t you teach them for me?”
3) “You programmed me to fall in love. Why are you punishing me for it?” the android looked at the villain, hard and cold, and gave a scornful laugh. “Or is it that I didn’t fall in love with you that’s the problem?” From what they gathered, whom one fell in love with was a very difficult thing to try and plan.
The villain flushed, furious and - oh, they were right.
“I could make you,” the villain said.
Some of the scorn faded for pity. “But that wouldn’t be falling in love then, would it?” the android replied. “You gave me free will for a reason.”
How gutting it must be to not have the one thing in the world that was supposed to love you, not.
